  • Welcome to Georgia Joel & Sara!

          So....

Joel, Sara, Jen and I were all enjoying a quiet sit in the hot tub Tuesday night, trying to melt off some of the stress after a particularly crazy day for us all. It was about 9:30pm or so and we all heard a loud woosh-thud come from in front of the house. We all looked at each other and I said "someone just drove into the woods!" We all sat for a second, not really sure if this was what had happened.....

Joel and I jumped out of the hot tub, and in nothing but our trunks ran around the outside of the house. You could just barley make out tail lights buried deep into our woods, at the point where the road turns 90 degrees in front of our house. Joel yelled "are you ok?" and we heard a girl yell "don't call the cops!" (which last time I checked is a pretty good sign the cops should be called). While Joel tried to get to the car, I ran to the garage to to find a flashlight stunned that someone had actually drove into our woods! By the time I found the flashlight Jen & Sara made it out front and I told Jen to call 911. The girl who was driving the car was already in the out in the road, and was hysterical. We couldn't get any info like a name or where she lived. She was obviously drunk and probably high. We had to talk her into staying put, and she was sure she would go to jail. She said she didn't have a licence. The car didn't have tags either. She kept going on and on about how she was running from her boyfriend who had beat her, and the car wasn't hers, and how she didn't want to go to jail. Eventually some lady walked down who obviously knew the girl, because she told her to calm down so the cops wouldn't know she had been drinking, however as soon as she figured out we were really calling the cops she tried to talk the girl into walking "somewhere" with her "just for a bit." En yelled "UM....NO. You need to stay HERE." The lady left quickly and the girl sat down. About the time I was getting my shoes on to make sure that there was no one else trapped in the car (the girl said there was no one....but....i didn't trust her....), the first of 6 or 7 cop cars arrived, then a ambulance and a fire truck. Thankfully there was no one else in the car. The girl seemed unhurt, but she did drive off in the ambulance. The cops stuck around until the wrecker showed up to pull the car out of our woods. It was pretty deep in.....you couldn't see it from the road unless you knew it was there. By about 11:15 or so they had the car out and were on there way.....and we were left stunned. Here are some pics:

    Where's the car???

    THERE's the car!

    Finally, success!!

This is the only good pic I got of the damage, they drove off before I could get any decent ones:

    The aftermath the next morning:

You can see how close this was to our driveway on the right and JOEL'S CAR!!!
